SCC board votes to cut seven positions ::excerpt::

After the board voiced their votes, student trustee Lisa LaFarga questioned the elimination of the purchasing technician/buyer position. She wanted to know why the job was being cut when it seemed to her the position would be needed for the $124.5 million bond passed by voters last year to be used to renovate the aging college campus and build two satellite campuses in Vacaville and Vallejo.

Incubator's first success is sibling software venture::excerpt::

Softkraft is the closest thing to a success that can be claimed by Ikenze and Vallejo, which funded Ikenze's incubator proposal with a three-year, $325,000 performance-based grant in 2001. Some $153,000 of that was designated as Ikenze's salary over the three years as executive director of the incubator.

Since 2001, 10 startups have rented space in the incubator near downtown Vallejo. Softkraft and five other businesses have survived, but Ikenze says Softkraft is the closest to going independent.

City officials say there's no conflict of interest in Ikenze using the incubator to develop his own business and have encouraged the venture. The incubator is run by a nonprofit corporation, which has the option to take an ownership position in all startup businesses.

Compared to that, Earnhardt Jr. is just a pup. The 28-year-old driver from Kannapolis, N.C., has a pair of Busch Series championships and eight Winston Cup wins.

Riders are strapped in like chimps going into outer space. Shoulders, arms, torso are locked in place. No hands-over-the-head waving is possible.

Why? Because Zonga is compact, incredibly fast and "seriously twisted," that's why.
