STATE SCHOOLS CHIEF O’CONNELL APPLAUDS 2003 STAR RESULTS Results from the California Standards Tests (CSTs) reveal significant increases in the percentage of students demonstrating “proficiency” or above in English-language arts in all grades except for eighth. Vallejoan drowned in Lake Tahoe: "On Saturday, a 24-year-old Vallejo man drowned in 16 feet of water a quarter mile from Ski Run Marina after the man grew tired after jumping into the water from a rented ski boat" Tahoe Daily Tribune

Hit-and-run suspect nabbed on Highway 121: "A two-vehicle crash Sunday ended with a Vallejo man facing several misdemeanor charges. Eduardo Castro Arellano, 36, fled the scene of an accident on Sunday afternoon on Highway 121, north of Cuttings Wharf Road." Napa Valley Register
