Tribe eyes Solano site for casino : "The Guidiville Band of Pomo Indians proposed a casino in a letter to Solano County. The project would cover 430 acres on what would become the Guidiville reservation.
A gaming complex, hotel and convention center, homes, a school, tribal government offices, farming and an elder care facility are among the things that could be located on the reservation." Fairfield Daily Republic

Vallejo bus accident seriously injures driver
: " Vallejo Transit bus carrying 11 passengers collided with a pickup truck at Alameda and Florida streets Tuesday morning, seriously injuring the pickup driver and leaving several passengers on the bus with minor injuries.
The collision occurred when the pickup, traveling eastbound on Florida Street, failed to stop for a red light and collided with the bus which was traveling southbound on Alameda on a green light, police said." Fairfield Daily Republic

Jeff Gordon sweeps away competition at Martinsville : "Jeff Gordon overpowered the rest of the field Sunday, completing a season sweep of the two NASCAR Winston Cup races at Martinsville Speedway.
The victory in the caution-filled Subway 500 was the 63rd win of Gordon's career but only his second of the season. The four-time series champion led 313 of the 500 laps on the half-mile oval.
'This baby just needed to be out front in clean air and it was a rocketship,' Gordon said. 'It's awesome to be back in Victory Lane.'" Tacoma News Tribune (WA)

Officer shoots, kills man in Vallejo: "Roylan Tugade, 42, was shot about 7 a.m. as he charged at an officer after taking the officer's baton and hitting him with it, according to Vallejo police Lt. Eric Mortenson. The officer, whose name was not released, was placed on routine leave pending an investigation of the shooting. " San Francisco Chronicle
